Requirements Overview
The Nevada Real Estate Division requires 36 hours of continuing education per biennial renewal. Salespersons must complete 18 mandatory hours covering Agency (3), Ethics (3), Laws & Legislation (3), Risk Reduction (3), and Contracts (6), with the remaining 18 hours as electives. Brokers and broker-salespersons have an additional 6-hour Broker Management requirement, bringing their mandatory total to 24 hours with 12 hours of electives.
A critical Nevada-specific rule is that at least 50% of CE (18 of 36 hours) must be completed through live instruction. This means licensees cannot fulfill the entire requirement online. First-time salespersons and broker-salespersons face a separate 30-hour post-licensing education requirement (a 10-module live classroom series) within their first year.
Senior licensees aged 65+ with 30 or more continuous years in good standing may apply for reduced requirements: 12 hours for salespersons, 15 hours for brokers. This exemption does not apply to property management or business broker permit holders. Inactive licenses require no CE but must still be renewed by the expiration date.

Other broker renewal situations
- Salesperson/Broker-Salesperson first renewal — 30 hours . 30 hours post-licensing education (10-module series) within first year. Must be taken in live classroom setting. Exempt licensees (out-of-state, former NV licensees within 5 years, or 2+ years experience) may complete 24 hours of regular CE instead.
- Broker first renewal — 36 hours . Standard 36 hours in first year. No separate post-licensing requirement.
- Broker 65+ with 30+ years licensed — 15 hours . Reduced CE: mandatory subjects only (15 hours). Must be 65+ and licensed in NV in good standing for 30+ years. Does not apply to property management or business broker permit holders.

How You Can Complete Your CE

- Carry-over — No carryover provisions found in NRS 645 or NAC 645. CE hours must be completed within the renewal period.
- CE hours increased from 24 to 36 hours effective October 31, 2021.
- At least 50% of CE hours (18 of 36) must be completed through live instruction.
- First-time salesperson/broker-salesperson post-licensing is a 10-module series taken in live classroom setting within the first year.
- Brokers and broker-salespersons must complete 6 hours of Broker Management in addition to the standard mandatory topics.
- Property management permit holders (NRS 645.6052) and business broker permit holders (NRS 645.863) are not eligible for the senior exemption.
- Licensees may renew online starting 45 days before license expiration.

Tips for Nevada Real Estate Agents
- Plan for the 50% live instruction requirement early — at least 18 hours must be in-person or live virtual, which requires more scheduling effort than self-paced online.
- First-time salespersons must complete the 30-hour post-licensing series in a live classroom within year one — do not wait until the last month.
- Brokers should knock out the 6-hour Broker Management course first, as it is unique to their license type and not needed by salespersons.
- If you are 65+ with 30+ years of Nevada licensure, apply for the reduced CE requirement — but note it excludes property management and business broker permit holders.
