Requirements Overview
The Georgia Real Estate Commission requires 36 hours of continuing education per four-year renewal cycle. All active licensees must take 3 hours of Georgia License Law, with the remaining hours filled by electives. Salespersons renewing for the first time must also complete a mandatory 25-hour Post-License course within their first year of licensure — this counts as 9 of the 36 hours.
Effective July 1, 2025, brokers face new requirements: 18 hours of broker-specific CE covering topics such as training and supervising licensees, reviewing brokerage agreements, and managing a firm. Each broker CE course must be at least 3 credit hours. Non-resident brokers licensed by reciprocity are exempt from this broker-specific requirement.
Renewal falls on the last day of your birth month every four years, and you can renew up to 120 days early. The state may need 24-48 business days to post recently reported credits, so plan accordingly.
