Requirements Overview

Wyoming uses a tiered CE system based on nursing practice hours during the renewal period. Nurses who worked 400 or more hours owe no CE at all. Those with 200 to 400 practice hours need 15 contact hours. Nurses with fewer than 200 practice hours face the full 30-hour requirement. This practice-based approach means most full-time and many part-time nurses can renew without completing any CE.

There are no mandatory topic requirements for any tier. CE must come from ANCC-accredited providers, and approved courses are searchable through CE Broker, the state's official tracking system. Online courses are accepted.

Renewals occur every even year through the Nurse Portal. Wyoming does not issue paper licenses. The state is a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) member, and CE requirements are governed by WSBN Rules Chapter 2 under the Nurse Practice Act (§33-21-122).
