Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) Continuing Education Requirements
Requirements Overview
Indiana is among the states that impose no continuing education requirement on registered nurses for license renewal. The biennial renewal process is straightforward: pay the $50 fee and submit your renewal through the MyLicense Indiana portal before the October 31 expiration date in odd-numbered years.
This CE-free status applies only to RNs. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) with prescriptive authority must complete 30 contact hours per renewal cycle, including 8 hours of pharmacology. If you hold both an RN license and APRN certification, only the APRN requirements apply.
Nurses whose licenses have been expired for 3 or more years face a reinstatement process that requires proof of active licensure in another state or a personal appearance before the Board. Indiana participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), so multistate license holders follow their home state's CE rules.
